General Tutor
As a local English tutor, your job is to teach the students English. The main objective of the lessons is to promote fluency, confidence in using the language and improve communication skills including vocabulary, pronunciation and both oral and written expression and comprehension. Lessons should also spark students’ interest in learning English and be as relevant as possible to their needs and interests. STS provide all course materials necessary. You may be offered either a full-time or a half-time position as an EFL teacher.
Activity Leader
As an activity leader you will be responsible for planning and organising social activities and excursions. You will act as a guide for the group during excursions and will have to use your creativity and interpersonal skills to make afternoon/evening activities such as sports days and treasure hunts as well-organised, fun and educational as possible. You do not necessarily need teaching experience or qualifications to work as an activity leader, as long as you can demonstrate the relevant personal qualities. Please note that local activity leaders will work 6 days per week, to include one full-day weekend excursion.
Teaching Activity Leader
Teaching activity leaders combine one session of teaching per day with one session of activities organisation per day (see description above). Teaching activity leaders also work six days per week.
Intensive Tutor
In some course towns (Oxford, Cambridge and Bournemouth) we offer intensive courses, meaning that students receive extra hours of tuition. Teachers on these courses work for longer hours and are therefore offered a wage that reflects this.
Senior Tutor
As a senior tutor you are responsible for implementing the academic programme and managing the teaching team including all Scandinavian teaching leaders, local tutors and teaching activity leaders. You will have close contact with the course town staff who will assist you in your daily tasks. TEFL qualification or equivalent required.
All tutors are subject to police checks with the criminal records bureau. Before you start work it is obligatory for you to attend one of our training sessions. Everyone who applies will receive information about employment during the spring. We reserve the right to keep your application form on file.
